What Is a CIT?

CITS Are SuperheroesCIT stands for Counselor In Training. This is an un-paid program for ages 14+ that provides participants with valuable skills, self-confidence, and community service hours that can be used towards their graduation! As a CIT you will assist staff in recreation programs and take on more responsibility as you prove your ability to support and implement age-appropriate creative activities, serve as a positive role model for kids, and assist with all other counselor duties, including upkeep of areas and equipment.

Apply to Become a CIT

What do I need to do? 

  • Create a username and apply online
  • Email Jimmy Olsen for a CORI form
  • Send completed application and CORI form with a $50 check payable to City of Amesbury
  • Send copy of birth certificate or school I.D
  • Send one letter of reference (even if you provided one last year!) If you are not selected for a CIT position, your $50 will be refunded to you.
