Motor Vehicle Excise

If you own a registered motor vehicle or trailer, you have to pay a tax, called a motor vehicle and trailer excise, each year. Motor vehicle excise bills are generated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Bills are mailed to the last known mailing address that the registry has on file. Bills are issued in January or February annually, and you are paying for that calendar year. Learn more on the Motor Vehicle Excise page.

Online Payments

We use UniPay Gold for our online payment processing. We pass the credit card fees onto the payer, as we can't predict who may choose to pay online and we can't afford to lose those fees. It would impact our annual budget in a way that we can't plan for. View the fee schedule (PDF).
