2023 City Census/Street Listing

2023_Census-10

The annual City Census/Annual Street Listing has been mailed this week. This is not the same as the Federal Census that is done every ten years. This is an annual requirement and is mailed to residents at the start of every year. The deadline to return your census is June 1st

Compliance with this State Requirement provides:

  • Proof of residence (example: to enroll in the school system)

  • Protection of voting rights- Failure to fill out the census results in the voter registration system marking you as “inactive”. You can still vote, but you will need to fill out additional paperwork at the polls and show ID/proof of residency. If you do not vote in multiple elections or fill out your census for 4 years, you will be deleted completely, which may come as a surprise if you do decide to vote in a future election.

  • Proof for Veteran’s bonus

  • Proof for Housing for the elderly and other related benefits

  • Provides valuable data for the community (example: budget purposes)

If people do not send their census’ in by June 1st, we are required to send a “second mailing” which is a confirmation card. Instead of mailing one census per household, we then must send a card to each person on the census. This is quite expensive, so the more people who respond to the census, the less cards we need to mail out.

Dog License registration is attached to the census and due by March 31st to avoid late fees..

Any questions, feel free to call the Clerks office at 978-388-8100.
